Everyone thinks of Paris as the city of love and why not, with so many things to do with your loved one here, it is a rage in couples to go for romantic getaways in Paris especially if the couple is travelling for the first time. And how many girls have asked their guys for a honeymoon in Paris. I am just talking about people wanting the first… today ladies want a second or even a third honeymoon every once a while. And why wouldn’t they want to spend their honeymoon (no matter which one) in Paris, the city of love.
The typical honeymoon trips are all dedicated to the touristy things, you end up sharing your holiday with 100 other people. Why not have a romantic trip that is private and doesn’t cost a fortune. Often as these romantic trips are not well planned, as the whole point of romantic getaways is being to be alone without any groups and a spur of spontaneity. But then it means getting lost and struggling towards doing all the cool things that you wanted so far.
So how to plan your romantic getaways yourself? Internet is your best friend, it can help you get information that is fast, easy and if you verify the sources, reliable as well. Now, what do you search for? The most common things to do are always available. Sipping champagne on top of the Eiffel tower, clicking a selfie from the top of Arc de triumph and cruise on Seine are the most common things to do and you will end up with the hordes of tourists that are already there.
You want to experience the city, the beautiful corners and the picturesque spots without too much of the touristy feel on your romantic trip. I was just recently asked to chart out a honeymoon plan, which in turn gave me the idea to write about the romantic getaways… maybe I will dedicate a separate article on sample honeymoon trips later on, right now I will provide a list of things to do in Paris for romantic getaways and honeymoon in Paris in general. Firstly, it is a subjective topic and though tastes vary from person to person, I’ll try to cover as many points as I can.
Walk around the Petite ceinture, it is a remnant of a circular tunnel used for connecting the major railroads in the city and provided some fortification to the city. There are various ached tunnels with greenery growing over it. Although you might not be able to go round the full circle as some of the tunnels are used by the government for actual rail lines. Entry can be found at Villa du Bel and exit at the Gare de Charonne. It can be a nice short walk that you can add to your romantic getaways and feel like the couple escaping from the police in the movies. The grown greenery around the arches gives it a feel of a romantic trip.
Although it has gained a lot of footage in recent times, the Dans le Noir restaurant gives you a unique experience of dining in the dark, and I don’t mean low light, I say absolute oblivion. The staff is visually impaired but you will find them helping you to move around and eat the meal. It is a wacky thing, but there can’t be more privacy than this. It takes the phrase of love is blind and helps you experience it. You can have a soul search on your romantic getaways, as you can’t see each other but only discover facets of personality. Those on honeymoon in Paris can skip it, if it’s too much an adventure.
Feeling all mushy and want to go for a couplie thing to do for the evening, head over to the “I love you” wall in Paris that houses the phrase written in over 300 languages. It a very good spot to be with your better half and try different versions. Since this is a spot less known and easily missed, you can get yourself clicked here as a sweet memory of your romantic getaways and especially your honeymoon in Paris.
Speaking of Museums, the Museum of Romanticism is also one that you can opt for, if you find eroticism a bit over the top. This is a gold mine of romantic art, poetry and artifacts. There is work from George Sand, Chopin and Delacroix. It will quickly take you away from the real world and make you ultra-romantic. There is a beautiful garden with a selection of flowers known to be symbols of affection. Share a cup of coffee over some cranky poetries of your own. Real treat for couples on their honeymoon trips or romantic getaways.
Now be honeymoon trips or romantic getaways, nothing will spice up your mood like the Museum of eroticism. It features a wide array pf articles that have been used throughout history, it has also some exhibitions and shows. You can even get copies of old school silent, black and white erotic films and idols if you are into that kind of thing, but mostly, it’s a fun to just visit. This will make your romantic trip / honeymoon in Paris a bit off the track.
Now when I say make a journey to the temple of love, I mean it. An island in a park in Paris! Too good to be true for you. If you are on one of your romantic getaways, want to surprise your partner, or even may want to pop the big question. Situated inside a lake in the Bois de Vincennes, a huge public park it is a spot which is well hidden from tourists. It’s not so easy to find though, and there lies the beauty. The metro station is Michel Bizot, pass by the Musée National de l’histoire de l’immigration and in the Lac Daumesnil. You can cross a bridge or better row a boat. It is a spectacle and your romantic getaways are not complete without visiting here. Strongly recommended for couples on honeymoon trips too.
There are so many places to discover and going on a bus tour or the river cruise kinda puts you in the crowds of tourists, families, young groups and just so many people that you lose the whole point of the romantic getaway, but what about meeting a local Parisian, not a clichéd tour guide who helps you around in Paris and gives personal recommendations, not direct you to common places. Check out these walking tours that are informative, interesting and doesn’t occupy a big chunk of your treasures… time and money.
Sitting on the river banks of the Seine is a well-known attraction, but sitting on the canal Saint- Martin holding a pink balloon as a beacon for your pizza delivery, that’s something new now. A pizza place called Pink Flamingo gives you a pink balloon, you choose your spot on the canal with your loved one and wait for you New York pizza to arrive. A very couplie thing to do and a unique way to have your evening snack on your honeymoon trips.
If you are on an adventure do not forget to visit Paris’ most exotic park with some caves and a waterfall. Near the Parc des Buttes Chaumont, it’s a quiet village. A spectacular view of Montmartre awaits you at the entrance of the Park, the village of Montmartre. You will be so mesmerized that you will barely notice the vineyard that lies below you. It won’t be very secluded but it is also not crowded as the Sacré Coeur. Perfect to have a sip of wine in the park with your special somebody on you honeymoon in Paris.
Paris is home to many excursions and one of the lesser known excursions is to Reims, a beautiful city in the Champagne region. Yes, you guessed the attraction, you will be going to the place with the most romantic and classy beverage. But that’s not all, you can visit a great historic cathedral Notre Dame de Reims, many museums and champagne tours with tasting at the end. But the most beautiful part is that it is a beautiful place to be by itself and your romantic getaways feel complete. Stay in a nice French house or rent a traditional hotel for the local feel. It is recommended for couples on honeymoon trips and just couples in general… Go have some quality time with your loved one!!
